6 Apr 2009  ::  Operation Locks of Love
I have a friend who calls himself Jeremy who has been letting his hair grow out, much to my displeasure because he had a three or four week span of looking a lot like a 15 year old hipster. In complaining about his hairy acquisitions I settled into a chair and looked in the mirror. Of course, in my case the chair was the downstairs toilet, which forces me to stare myself in the eye during the morning constitutional at some point I realize my last haircut was at the beginning of Fall term, which explains my hairy and rather horrible appearance.

Being a fairly rational individual, my mind went straight to the most logical conclusion; I should grow out my hair for Locks of Love. I thought about doing a pro and con list of such an action. It will look terrible, I'll be applying for jobs in the meantime, I don't like long hair and it will probably take over a year. However, those things were also what made the idea appealing because it will be deliciously hilarious. Or something.

I also might just suck it up and cut my hair, but if someone wants to lend moral support, I need to have ten inches of hair and I'm at 3-4 right now. Anyone else in?

I'm in... if back hair counts. I think it's a good idea regardless. You should definitely keep growing it out. You'll be pissed if when you eventually go bald you never had long hair.

the type of job for which you applying should be taken into account. For instance, if you are applying to be the product rep for Mr. Clean, you may not be able to pursue the long hair dream. However, should you aspire to management - or even executive - of cell block 2 at the state pen, maybe the long hair would be appropriate. But then you might not want to let on about the Locks of Love goal or you might be seen as soft among the other inmates.

I hope this has been helpful and please post pics of said manginess!

I can get behind this idea. I've done it twice now and it's a good feeling to know that I've helped someone out. Also you have beautiful hair, and some gal/guy would love to have it. Another plus, whenever you ride your bike you could let it blow in the wind and feel like a model... feel being the key word here.

before and after pictures should be included with perhaps a monthly update.
as for the hair itself... does it have to be all of your hair or can you mold your head into a mullet?

locks of luck on this!

I'm down, but will you still love me when I'm bald?
