15 Dec 2008  ::  Snow
I assumed that the snow would be thick enough to warrant riding my mountain bike to work. So I started in, the fat tires basically floating over three inches of snow. It was good fun; in the first couple miles I passed a handful of cars before taking a right on Oakway Parkway and landing on my face. After that I biked with less confidence, but still managed to pace cars.

Ducking down by the waterfront I was greeted by a beautiful scene; snow clung to the barren trees while frigid waters rolled through rocks while ice clung to the bank. It was a different world and a different Eugene and one of the reason why I think life is worth living.

On the way home I biked the whole waterfront, taking in the golden light from the sun, now at an acute angle. The snow glittered and the sky was blue. I took in everything I was seeing and wished other people were out there experiencing that with me.

In fact, they were, as Dave swung by from the other direction fairly soon. I'm glad someone else was able to appreciate the glory of today. It was a great day, which is something I had needed.
